The BJP led Union government need not rejoice much over the India Today - Hansa Mood of the Nation poll. It should see clear writing on the wall too.

The poll reveals, among other things, that the people do not look forward to Modi government to run its affairs along communal basis but expect it to uphold development and free themselves from poverty, corruption and price rise.

According to the survey conducted on a total of 12,430 people across the country, 70% of the respondents hold that Modi government won elections solely on the development plank. Only 21% of the respondents think that BJP’s landslide victory was a result of communal polarisation. 

About 63% respondents maintained that Modi government should concentrate its efforts on containing poverty, corruption and price rise. Among them 23% chose poverty, 22% corruption and 18% price rise as the main targets of the government.

भाजपा नीत केंद्र सरकार को इंडिया टुडे-हंसा मूड ऑफ द नेशन सर्वेक्षण से कोई ज्यादा खुश होने की जरूरत नहीं है. उसे दीवार पर लिखी साफ़ इबारत भी देख लेनी चाहिए. 

इस सर्वेक्षण से अन्य बातों के अलावा एक बात तो निश्चय ही जाहिर होती है कि जनता केंद्रकी मोदी सरकार से देश को सांप्रदायिक आधार पर चलाने की अपेक्षा नहीं रखती बल्कि चाहती है कि सरकार विकास को बढ़ावा दे और गरीबी, भ्रष्टाचार तथा महंगाई से निजात दिलाए. 

12,430 उत्तरदाताओं पर किए गए इस सर्वे के अनुसार, 70 प्रतिशत उत्तरदाताओं का मानना है कि मोदी सरकार को वोट ही विकास की खातिर मिला है. सिर्फ 21 प्रतिशत उत्तरदाताओं की राय है कि भाजपा को ऐसा विशाल जनादेश सांप्रदायिक ध्रुवीकरण के चलते मिला. 

करीब 63 प्रतिशत उत्तरदाताओं का कहना था कि मोदी सरकार को गरीबी, भ्रष्टाचार तथा महंगाई ख़त्म करने की ओर ध्यान देना चाहिए. इनमें से 23 प्रतिशत ने गरीबी, 22 प्रतिशत ने भ्रष्टाचार और 18 प्रतिशत ने महंगाई पर मुख्य निशाना साधने की बात कही.
